ABOUT
Kazi Nazrul Islam Mahavidyalaya

Kazi Nazrul Islam Mahavidyalaya, Churulia, was set up in the Academic Session1982-83, as a by-product of the long standing fulfillment of the aspirations of the local people of the area to have a College in Jamuria block of Burdwan district of West Bengal. Kazi Nazrul Islam , known as the rebel poet of Bengal, belonged to this area and it was but natural that the descendants of the poet who had set up Nazrul Academy should take the lead in this aspect. It was felt that such a step would actually provide opportunities to access to quality higher education to the young people of the area. The backwardness and remoteness of the area has proved to be a major hindrance to the development of academic growth in this area and over the last three decades the local government has not been too proactive in developing infrastructure in this area. Therefore, the College has had to fight through multiple hurdles in its journey and yet the College administration, teachers, non-teaching staff and students have always risen to the occasion. Today, the College is increasingly becoming an institution which believes in its abilities despite odds.
