Kazi Nazrul Islam Mahavidyalaya

About the Department

After the establishment of the college in 1982, the Department of Hindi came into existence with the introduction of the Hindi Programme Course in 1982 & Honours in . Since then, the Department of Hindi of Kazi Nazrul Islam Mahavidyalaya has been functioning steadily with the aim of imparting knowledge of Hindi language and literature to the young literature enthusiasts.
With every Academic Session the Department has progressed gradually and now boasts of a separate Department room with a wi-fi connection, Notice Board. In addition, the faculty members also conduct Mentor-Mentee sessions with the students and also collect their Feedback regarding the Department in particular and the institution in general. The college also has a Literary Club which is managed by the faculty member of the Hindi.

Vision and Mission

  • To impart quality education in Hindi Literature to the rural, tribal and economically weaker
    section of the students of the locality.
  • To make the students employable and research oriented.
  • To raise the standard of the students to the national standard.
  • To provide the students an excellent teaching-learning environment for their holistic
    development.

Methods of Teaching

  • The mission of the Department of Hindi is to provide the students with basic skills of the
    language like reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • It is also the mission of the department to inculcate in the students the love for Hindi
    Literature in particular and for any language in general.
  • To inculcate human values such as inclusion, empathy, the ability to engage with difference
    or varied viewpoints, and trans-orientation.

Objectives

  • To cultivate language proficiency of students, the ability to communicate with clarity and
    confidence at different levels.
  • To enhance the employability of students across diverse sectors in government organizations
    and corporate set-ups, in addition to global, national, regional and local spaces.
  • To promote students’ creative and analytical faculties in thinking, reading and writing,
    including imaginative writing.
  • To prepare the learners to continue academic study at a higher level.
  • To hone the power of reflexive thinking, articulation, and a well-researched persuasive presentation of one’s views.

Admission Policy & Socio-economic condition of the students:

As per Govt. of West Bengal, Higher Education Department and Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol
& rules.

a) A majority of the students come from Minority, poor and socially backward sections of the society.
b) Many students are first-generation learners.
c) Though the students are well-conversant in their mother-tongue, they are weak when it comes to speaking.
